About On Our Toes Dance Studio

Our Philosophy

At On Our Toes Dance Studio, it is our mission to instill an appreciation and love for dance within each student. We believe that dance enriches life. Dance education encompasses far more than technique or the steps your children will learn. We believe the discipline of dance training gives young people a better understanding of commitment by offering them the chance to learn, experience the spirit of teamwork and understand what hard work can accomplish.

Tammy has been teaching in Bryan/College Station for over 38 years. She has studied in numerous dance genres which include ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical and character. She also has experience in twirling, drill team and cheerleading. Tammy is a graduate of Bryan High School where she was a member and an officer for the Shy-Annes Drill team. During college, she studied ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, tap and dance history under Cathy Beckman. After one year at Kilgore, she decided to try out for cheerleader and bring more dance to the cheer-leading team. With the help of another cheerleader, they were able to do just that. She was a member of the Kilgore Dance Club and did many local performances. Cheerleading was cut short because Tammy decided to say YES to marriage and school had to be put on hold for a semester. She went back to Kilgore College the next semester and finished. That*s the beauty of college.

After graduating from Kilgore College, Tammy began her teaching career in Bryan/College Station and has been teaching ever since. In 1990, Tammy auditioned for DANZA, a local dance company under the direction on Tanya Picard and became part of the core company. She did many performances with DANZA including the theatrical performance of Dracula where she played a female Dr. Van Helsing. While dancing with DANZA, she was invited to study dance at Gus Giordano*s Studio in Chicago.

Tammy continued her career in Bryan/College Station teaching all ages ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz and competitive dance. For three years she was the cheer and pom choreographer for the Gause Bear Cheerleaders in Gause, TX. She has taught many cheer and dance workshops. She has attended numerous workshops and conventions such as Dupree, DMI, Tremaine, NYCDA, L.A. Dance Magic, L.A. Dance Force, TATD, Co. Dance, Jump, West Coast Dance Explosion, Showstopper and Al Gilbert. After jumping into the competition scene, Tammy has taken her students to many competitions, workshops and summer intensives which include TATD, Tremaine, L.A. Dance Magic, Co. Dance, Jump, West Coast Dance Explosion, Headliners, Showstopper, Stage One, American Dance & Drill, Starbound, KAR, and NYCDA. Her students have won numerous awards, top overall awards and cash awards. She has choreographed solos for the Miss American Pre-Teen pageant and solos for dance and commercial auditions. She received a choreography award at Stage One Competition in 2010 and at Dance Showcase USA in 2014. Tammy has been a member of the Texas Association Teachers of Dance since 2002.

These are just some of the blessings Tammy has received over the years but her biggest career blessing continues to be managing her studio. She has enjoyed every minute of teaching and operating On Our Toes Dance Studio and she thanks the Lord every day for giving her this opportunity. She also thanks her family and friends who have supported her during this year. She thanks everyone for their love and prayers.

“...Tammy is an amazing and talented director. She loves and cares for each of her students as if they were her own. She is so sweet and positive with her students, constantly building them up with the confidence that they need. I love and respect the fact that Tammy always keeps her choreography, as well as her music and costume choices very age appropriate. Yet, her creativity shines in every dance that she does and her costume choices are always beautiful!...”
